One of the five best theaters in the world
Horarios de atención: Everyday between 9am and 5pm
Considered one of the five best theaters in the world for its size, acoustics and architecture, the Colón Theater is a must for anyone visiting Buenos Aires. Whether to take a guided tour of its interiors; to see an opera, a ballet play or a concert; or just to appreciate the building from the outside the Colón Theater is really a must. It was inaugurated in 1908 and since then the world's greatest figures of music and dance have performed on its stage: Arturo Toscanini, Maya Plissetskaya, Mikhail Barishnikov, Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti, Montserrat Caballé, Marta Argerich, Paloma Herrera and Astor Piazolla are just some of them. The interior of the theater is highly impressive: the frescoes on the inside of the dome, the red corduroy chairs, the huge main room seven levels high and the decoration in gold and scarlet colors make a really majestic set.
Hint: There are two ways of knowing the Colón Theater inside. One is through a guided tour. All information on this is on this website: http://www.teatrocolon.org.ar/es/visitas-guiadas. But you can also attend some of its functions. The agenda can be consulted on its official website.
